Import Face-off

This past weekend was Import Face-off, if you are unfamiliar with this event its a Car show, Car Audio battle, drifting, and more all rolled up into one. This year the event was held at Route 66 Raceway (A fitting venue that needs more events). The premise of the event is exciting to say the least but the expectation vs Reality might have been the best of this event.

On paper Import Face-off sounds like a hit and from what I’ve seen from their prior events the place was packed. This Year’s event was full of excitement. When I arrived the line was a little hectic but eventually began moving smoothly. $30 for inside parking and event ticket felt fair for what I was expecting, and given the venue. Entering the event I felt excited seeing all of the vendors, the drift area and car show area. I began walking the area beginning with the drift pad watching the cars fly by, moving on to the vendor line up from tees, to car parts there was a decent lineup. The car show was packed with about 100-150 cars I was slightly underwhelmed by the level of builds in the car show but was happy to see the show packed, I think the car show area could have been slightly bigger. The audio battle area was perfect off to the side on the backside of the track, it was packed with tons of trucks ready to shake the earth.

Overall I felt the car show area should have been bigger with better builds, They could have fit more vendors in the event, there should have been more drift teams available and more marketing for the event over all. the inside parking felt light just like the event overall. It was a great event and tons of fun with the crowd that was there. I think it was a bad weekend to host with another major event happening in Joliet as well not far from this event having to split the crowd more than likely caused a lower overall turnout.

I want to give a special shout out to a few of the things/people/teams that made the day/event great for me. First off 777 Drift, Tunerworld, Xtreme Graphics, Xtremecjz, geralddrifts, ross.butusov, velvethawk, sukh.k527, all the vendors and food trucks.

Here are some of the photos from the event:
